M-League 2023-24 Finals: Games #15-16 and the Awards Ceremony

Final Thoughts

Jellicode

This season really took me back. When I first started writing, it was the 2019-20 Finals and my favourite team, the U-Next Pirates, was playing. In the 5th game, Asakura Koushin won a dealer daisangen. At that moment, I was truly hooked on M-League. Coming out of 6th place at the end of the regular season, 4th place after the semifinals, they won the championship. The underdogs won it all.

Year after year, I wanted to see them win another one. They kept falling short, they had to replace people. I kept thinking, “Maybe next season.”

This season was the season. Win after win, I felt the excitement that I hadn’t felt since that first finals. It encouraged me to work harder to spread the enthusiasm outwards. From humorous articles about staring to a referee ruling analysis, I enjoyed writing every bit. It’s also encouraging me to work on a special project during the offseason!

In that first year, I celebrated alone. With new friends from far and wide in the Discord server, I’m glad could celebrate this win with people from around the world.

To another season of M-League!

A new year, a new team. Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch as much M-League live as I would have liked, due to personal reasons. But it’s been a thrilling ride watching the scores go up and down each week.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next year. Where B-Next can make their first semis, or maybe Konami will finally win one (I can dream).

M-League Watch Team

Back in May 2020, this site started by three people with a lot of time to kill. We we would have never guessed what it would turn into just a few years later.

We watched as a new team was formed, followed tournaments, tracked stats, conducted polls, cheered on our favourite players and teams, and so much more. Even when we didn’t get a yakuman, seeing all the tense moments and close calls was just as exciting. Even when we were apart, we were all together.

Just like when we started out 4 years ago, the M-League Watch team would like to congratulate the U-Next Pirates on winning the championship! To our readers and fans, thank you all for your support. None of this would have been possible without you.

And that’s all for the M-League 2023-24 Season! The season may be over, but the action never stops! M-Tournament, IKUSA, Japanext Cup, Pirates Treasure Hunt, Saikyousen M-League Special Match, Rage, there are a ton of tournaments to follow. Not to mention a possible draft and maybe even a new team! Through it all, the M-League Watch team is committed to keeping you up to date on all of it! How will these tournaments play out? Who will stay and who will go? Will we get that elusive 10th team? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
